Never played poker before? Here is where to start
Five Card Draw is the oldest and most basic form of playing poker. It is the common too and is usually what you play with your friends around the kitchen table. The game and its rules are basic. Everyone is dealt 5 cards. There is no community card so you won’t know what anyone is holding but yourself. Once the first cards are dealt you will be given the chance to bet on what you currently are holding. Next you look at what you have and what you think you can make out of your hand and are given the option to trade anywhere from 1 to all of your cards. Next you can bet again and go higher or if you feel you still have nothing you can fold out and not lose anymore on the round. The highest hand wins.
Strategies to win in Five Card Draw
There are two main things to take into consideration when playing 5 Card Draw. The first and most important is learning when to stay in the game and bet up and when to fold and let the hand go. Usually any hand you have which goes better than a high pair is probably better left to fold. When you have a high pair or better, stay in for as much as you think your hand is worth. Or more importantly, stay in and bet what you think the other players who are still in think their hand’s are worth. The second key to being a successful player right from the start is to keep your opponents guessing. You if you continually draw 3 cards the other players will assume you are holding a pair. Vary your style to keep them guessing as to what you are holding while also learning to predict their hands by the moves and bets they make.
Why Five Card Draw is Easy to Win
Five Card Draw is not only easy to learn, but also easy to win at. You need a little bit of practice, but more importantly just to have your strategy and stick to it. The greatest thing about Five Card Draw is it is a level playing field where even you on your first time at the table can easily beat the other players and walk away with some cash.
